Guwahati: One engineer was arrested in relation to the missing Circle Officer from the boat accident in Dhubri of Assam on Thursday.
According to reports, the engineer employed at L&T Company prevented Circle Officer Sanju Das from crossing the bridge due to which he had to take the boat. Sanju is missing after the boat capsized in the Brahmaputra River.
The engineer was arrested as a result.
The Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge over the Brahmaputra River was being built by the L&T Company, and the engineer forbade him from using it because of continuing construction.
Earlier today, a boat with passengers on board capsized in the river after losing control of the high currents.
Following the incident, SDRF teams were dispatched to the area and later saved two persons.
There were 29 passengers aboard the boat when the catastrophe happened. A circle officer was on the boat, according to the state’s emergency management agency.
Four victims of the event were sent urgently to the Dhubri civil hospital.
Those injured were identified as Victor Saha, Baby Begum, Ayanal Haque and Abdus Salam Sheikh.
Two teachers are also missing as a result of the incident. They have been identified as Hassen Ali and Hussain Ali.
The SDRF has informed that rescue efforts are under way.
