Assam Swimmer Astha Choudhury Sets New Record at 36th National Games 2022

Guwahati: An Assam swimmer Astha Choudhury broke a record on Sunday at the Gujarat-based National Games.

Astha beat Delhi’s Richa Mishra’s previous best time of 01:04.41 with a time of 01:03.90 in the women’s butterfly event.

There will be one last event today at 5 o’clock.

Earlier, sprinter Amlan Borgohain won the gold medal in the 100-meter race, cyclist Chayanika Gogoi took home the silver in the 10km category, lawn bowler Nayanmoni Saikia got the bronze, and weightlifter Popi Hazarika took home the silver in the 59-kg category.

The 36th National Games are being hosted in Gujarat for the very first time between September 29 and October 12.

There are close to 15,000 athletes, coaches, and officials competing from all across the nation in 36 different sports categories.
