DRI Seizes Heroin From Mumbai Airport Worth Rs. 80 Crores
Guwahati: In a significant seizure at Mumbai International Airport on Wednesday, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) apprehended one person and confiscated 16 kilogrammes of high-quality heroin.
The seizure is reportedly valued more than Rs 80 crores on the international markets, according to DRI officials.
According to them, an operation was conducted based on the DRI’s intelligence when the accused arrived at the airport. After which he was held but a search of his bags turned up nothing.
The pills were found in a false cavity after the officials inspected his trolley bag, according to DRI.
Binu John a resident of Kerala was named as the defendant in the case and DRI has taken him into custody. Additionally, a lawsuit has been filed against him under the NDPS Act.
The arrested suspect then disclosed to DRI that he had been paid $1,000 USD by a foreigner to transport the drugs to India. Names of additional associates involved in the matter were also revealed by him.
The investigation team is now looking into the names John provided. In order to determine whether the accused has ever smuggled drugs into the country, officials also stated that they are looking into any prior records of the accused.
