Death Toll Reaches 36, Including 23 Children in Thailand Massacre
Guwahati: The number of people killed in the Thailand child care centre gun tragedy has risen to 36, including 23 children, CNN reported on Thursday.
The attacker was identified as Panya Kamrab, a 34-year-old former policeman who killed himself immediately after the attack.
According to CNN, the violent incident happened at the Child Development Center in the Uthaisawan Na Klang district of Nong Bua Lamphu province.
The perpetrator, who killed his wife and his stepson before taking his own life, was apparently embroiled in a drug-related court case, according to local police officials.
According to officials quoted by CNN, the area where the slaughter occurred is about 540 kilometres (about 335 miles) northeast of Bangkok and is a tranquil town without a reputation for violence.
All of the securities officers had previously been urged to find the offender by the prime minister’s office.
Thailand has a comparatively high gun ownership rate when compared to other Southeast Asian nations.
Although mass shootings are uncommon in the nation, one incident in 2020 saw a soldier kill 29 people in a shooting rampage that started at a military installation and ended when the attacker entered a mall, according to CNN.
