Former Indian Cricketer Roger Binny To Replace Ganguly as BCCI President
Guwahati: The Board of Control for Cricket in India claim that former Indian cricketer Roger Binny, who was a member of the World Cup-winning team in 1983, is likely to be the next BCCI President replacing Sourav Ganguly and BJP MLA Ashish Shelar as BCCI Treasurer replacing Arun Dhumal.
The BCCI Secretary will continue to be Jay Shah.
All office holders from different regions of the country and from other associations submitted nominations for various seats on the board at a BCCI meeting held at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The conversations took place during a BCCI internal meeting prior to the elections, which are set for October 18.
Rajeev Shukla, a senior BCCI administrator, will continue to serve as vice president of the board, and Ashish Sellar is set to succeed Arun Dhumal as treasurer.
According to reports, Binny was a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team and has previously served on the BCCI selection committee. And former pacer Roger Binny is the frontrunner to replace Ganguly as the BCCI president. And 67 years old Binny is currently serving as the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s president.
On October 11 and 12, candidates may submit their nominations, the nominations will be reviewed on October 13, and candidates may withdraw their submissions as late as October 14.
The 16-member International Cricket Council (ICC) Board Chairman position is up for election this November, and Sourav Ganguly, the current BCCI President is expected to represent India.
