Assistant Sub-Inspector Held On Bribery Charges In Assam’s Lakhimpur

Guwahati: An Assistant Sub-Inspector has been arrested on bribery charges by the sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption cell from Lakhimpur district of Assam.

The arrestee identified as Dambarudhar Dutta of Silonibari OP.

Dutta was caught red-handed taking bribe money from the complainant when he was cornered and arrested.

Dutta allegedly demanded the bribe money from the complainant and his family in exchange for assisting them in a criminal case, according to the police.

Taking to Twitter, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh wrote, “Today,Team from the @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red-handed & arrested ASI Dambarudhar Dutta of Silonibari OP under North Lakhimpur district after he accepted bribe from the complainant for giving relief to complainant and his family in a criminal case. @assampolice @CMOfficeAssam”.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against him under the pertinent laws.

The anti-corruption unit and the Assam Police are maintaining a close monitoring to stop all forms of corruption in the state. Numerous state government representatives were busted receiving bribes in the last few months.
