Delhi’s IGI airport on alert after ‘bomb threat’ on flight from Moscow; Probe Initiated
Guwahati: A bomb threat was made against Russian airline Aeroflot flight SU 232 as it was flying to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Thursday.
An official investigation team told ANI, “Our investigation is underway at the airport, all passengers and their bags are being scrutinised and the SOPs are followed, the aircraft is currently in the isolation bay.”
“Threat was received by electronic medium this time,” he added.
On schedule, Aeroflot SU 232 left Moscow and arrived in Delhi at about 3:20 am on Friday.
“There was a call at 11:15 pm about a bomb in the flight coming from Moscow to Terminal 3 (T3) at 3:20 tonight. Flight number SU232 landed on runway 29,” an official said.
“Both passengers and crew members disembarked the aircraft. An investigation is being conducted as the flight is being examined “said Delhi Police.
Further investigation is ongoing because nothing serious has been found so far.
Security officials were informed after receiving a bomb threat call for an Air India flight with a destination of London earlier on September 10.
“A bomb threat was made against us regarding a trip to London. On the Ranhola police station’s landline in Outer Delhi, a call was received at 10.30 p.m. on Thursday. The caller said that an Air India flight to London will be bombed in a manner similar to the 9/11 attacks in the US “sources with the Delhi Police had said.
