Elections in Himachal on November 12, Gujarat Poll Dates Not Announced
Guwahati: Himachal Pradesh will hold elections to choose its new government on November 12.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) made this announcement during a press conference on Friday.
Contrarily, the vote tally will take place on December 8.
The Gujarat Assembly elections, which were also scheduled to take place by the end of this year, were not given a date by the ECI in the interim. The dates are reportedly expected to be revealed following Diwali.
Rajiv Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC), addressed the press conference and declared, “We are dedicated to holding free and fair elections. In addition to trying to promote women’s emancipation through elections, we are working to improve voter turnout.”
The Himachal House’s tenure ends on January 8, 2023 while the Gujarat Assembly’s mandate expires on February 18, 2023.
