Congress Presidential Polls Begins Today

Guwahati: The voting for the Congress Presidential Elections has begun from 10 am till 4 pm on Monday.

The poll’s results are anticipated to be released on October 19.

Two prominent party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor have both submitted paperwork and to be considered as contenders for the presidency.

The next party leader will be chosen by the more than 9,000 delegates of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).

Both the candidates have been actively campaigning across India.

Shashi Tharoor visited Guwahati this week to campaign for the election, while Kharge had already been there a few days earlier.

Kharge has been referred to as the Gandhi family’s “unofficial official candidate” because it is clear that many senior politicians are supporting him.

It should be noted that this will be the sixth time in the party’s roughly 137-year history that the party’s president will be chosen in an election.
