Mamata Banerjee’s appeal to PM Modi: Sourav Ganguly must be allowed to contest ICC election

Guwahati: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her shock at Sourav Ganguly’s denial of a second term as BCCI president on Monday.

Before departing for a trip to north Bengal, Banerjee while talking to reporters at the Calcutta airport and added that she will ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action so that Ganguly is permitted to run in the elections for ICC chief.

“Sourav has proved himself to be an able administrator, and I am shocked at his removal from the BCCI president’s post. This was injustice meted out to him.

“I’ll ask the PM to make sure Ganguly may run in the elections to lead the ICC,” she said.

Banerjee continued, “There shouldn’t be any politics in this subject.”
