Assam-Mizoram Border Conflict: Minister Level Talks
Guwahati: Minister-level talks between Mizoram and its neighbouring Assam to resolve their contentious 50-year interstate border dispute are set to take place from November 2 to 5 in Guwahati, a senior official in Mizoram’s home department stated on Tuesday.
The Assam administration delayed the scheduled period for negotiations from the latter part of October to early November, according to state home secretary H Lalengmawia.
According to Lalengmawia, the home minister Lalchamliana, the minister of land revenue and settlement Lalruatkima, and senior home department officials, including himself, would once again likely lead the state delegation.
The minister for urban and housing affairs Atul Bora, Ashok Singhal and other senior officials headed the Assam team during the first two rounds of negotiations in Aizawl.
In August 2021 and on August 9 of this year, ministerial-level discussions between the two states were conducted in Aizawl.
