Guwahati: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit investigators apprehended a District Transport Offices (DTO) employee in the Dibrugarh district of Assam on suspicion of accepting bribes on Wednesday.
The arrested officer is identified as Ditimoni Gogoi ,a junior Assistant at DTO in Dibrugarh .She was caught in a trap and accused of receiving a bribe from the complainant.
In connection with the crime, the vigilance cell also arrested a tout named Pankaj Gogoi.
In order to facilitate offline payment of Road Tax, the tout allegedly took bribe money from the complaint on behalf of the suspected official.
“Today, a Team from the @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red-handed & arrested Sri Pankaj Saikia@Gogoi (tout) & Smt Ditimoni Gogoi,Jr Asstt in DTO Office Dibrugarh after he accepted bribe money on behalf of suspect officer from the complainant for facilitating ofline payment of Road Tax,” ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh informed on Twitter.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed against him under the pertinent laws.
To stop all forms of corruption in the state, the anti-corruption unit and the Assam Police are maintaining a close monitoring. Numerous state government representatives were busted receiving bribes in the last few months.
