Cyclone Sitrang: Multiple Flights Cancelled At Shillong, Kolkata Airports
Guwahati: IndiGo Airlines shut down all flight operations at Shillong Airport on Tuesday in response to the region’s ongoing rainfall brought on by Cyclone Sitrang.
IndiGo today halted up to six flights at Shillong Airport in Umroi of Meghalaya given the unfavourable weather in the area.
It should be mentioned that Cyclone Sitrang has caused heavy to persistent rain in a number of Northeastern locations. Over the past two days, rain has fallen in several places, including Assam, Meghalaya, and others.
Meanwhile, a number of flights were also cancelled at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport due to poor weather.
It should be mentioned that as Cyclone Sitrang tore across Bangladesh, nine individuals were killed, including three family members in Cumilla, two in Bhola, and one in Narail, Shariatpur, Barguna, and Dhaka.
Moreover, For Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura, a red signal has been issued, meaning heavy to very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts widespread rainfall throughout Tripura on Tuesday, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy to extremely heavy rain at isolated locations.
