Cyclone Sitrang: Death Toll Rises To 30 In Bangladesh

Guwahati: The death toll from the storm has increased to 30 after Cyclone Sitrang made landfall in Bangladesh’s coastal regions early on Tuesday.

According to reports, as many as 14 districts around the nation have claimed casualties.

The cyclonic storm caused flash floods, which have already claimed the lives of 30 people. Numerous pucca houses have been damaged by strong winds, and as a result, trees have been uprooted.

Meanwhile, in India, a number of flights at the Shillong Airport in Meghalaya and the Kolkata Airport in West Bengal had to be cancelled owing to poor weather brought on by Cyclone Sitrang.

According to the Indian Metrological Department (IMD), Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience high to extremely heavy rainfall.

It is quite possible that Tuesday will see widespread rain throughout Tripura, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very severe and really heavy rain at isolated locations.
