Parimal Suklabaidya: Alcohol Sales In Assam To Rise Soon
Guwahati: The sale of alcohol in Assam would soon increase as discussions about the distribution of additional liquor licences continue.
This was informed by cabinet minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Wednesday.
While addressing to the media today, Suklabaidya stated that the goal of this step is to prevent the importation and consumption of illicit alcohol from Arunachal Pradesh.
The cabinet minister for fishery, excise, environment, and forest urged people to drink high-quality alcohol rather than the neighbourhood “Sulai,” which can occasionally result in dangers.
He said, “Only 20 advertising for liquor licences had been published while Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was in office. Of the 20, 10 liquor stores have already received permits from us.”
Parimal Suklabaidya continued, “The state received Rs 3,000 crore in revenue from the sale of alcohol in the most recent fiscal year.”
