Taking education and healthcare as twin pillars of good governance, policymakers and administrators have rightly stressed on improving facilities for the two sectors.”

According to her, connectivity is undoubtedly the most important aspect in realising this region’s potential and the construction of village roads, highways and bridges not only facilitates the achievement of educational and healthcare objectives but also opens up new business prospects.

She counselled us to maintain a connection to our roots while accepting current ways.

As a state with a large tribal population, According to President Murmu, Mizoram can look to the past and discover the best governing techniques from the premodern era that can be revived in modern systems.

The President noted that the Mizoram Legislative Assembly celebrated its Golden Jubilee in May of this year and stated that this house has developed over the years into a model of debate, constructive discussion, and mutual respect as an effective tool in finding solutions to people’s issues.

In Mizoram, she claimed, “women are a powerful group in every aspect of life whether it be in business, culture or sports.”

She emphasised that there needs to be a greater representation of women in public life especially among state legislators.

According to President Murmu, the growth of Mizoram and the rest of the Northeast is essential for the country to reach new heights.

“India’s stature on the global stage has been rising. Our ties with our neighbours, especially in South-East Asia, are of high value to us. Our ‘Act East Policy’ places emphasis on the Northeast for improving our ties with the extended neighbourhood in the Asia-Pacific region. Once an economic initiative, the policy has now gained strategic and cultural dimensions too. Mizoram benefits from, and also contributes to, the nation’s endeavour to engage with the neighbours in the region,” she further said.

According to the President, new obligations come along with our growing importance on the international stage.

“In climate action, for example, we have taken a lead, showing the world the best way to counter the effects of environmental degradation. Our multiple initiatives in promoting renewable sources of energy have won admiration around the world. Meanwhile, we – as individual citizens, policymakers, lawmakers or administrators – must strive at our level to help heal the planet. Mizoram has the highest forest cover among all Indian states, providing an ideal home for extraordinary and rich biodiversity. The Himalayas, its fragile ecology and flora and fauna are our priceless heritage. We must conserve them for generations to come,” she added.
