Himachal Pradesh Elections: Congress Releases Poll Manifesto

Guwahati: The Congress unveiled their election manifesto for the Himachal Pradesh elections on Saturday. Election day in the state is November 12.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Bhagel, Himachal Congress incharge Rajeev Shukla, state Congress president Pratibha Singh, chairman of the Congress Campaign Committee Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and chairman of the Manifesto Committee Dhani Ram Shandil were all present at the event for the release of the vision statement “Himachal, Himachliyat aur Hum.”

Speaking about the manifesto’s contents, Shandil claimed that an effort had been made to address concerns including price increases, unemployment, and problems with employees. He claimed that the manifesto has made an effort to reflect the goals of women, young people, government workers, ex-servicemen, and women.

He added that evidence from Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh showed that the party had always kept its promises.

According to the manifesto’s primary points, one lakh positions will be posted in the first Cabinet meeting following the establishment of the government.

Sensing the significance of the over three lakh government employees, the Congress has pledged to pay all arrears owed to the workers and to regularise contract workers within two years.

The party, which places a strong emphasis on youth has announced the formation of a Youth Commission to look into all matters relating to education and job creation.

In order to battle the drug epidemic, the party also announced the creation of an Anti Drug Abuse Enforcement Authority which will be led by an active high court judge.

The 10 promises that the Congress earlier stated are among the other attractions. This includes 300 units of free electricity, Rs 1,500 a month for every women between the ages of 18 and 60 and Rs 10 crore per assembly segment to help new businesses get off the ground.

In response to claims of anomalies in hiring, the Congress announced the creation of a recruitment board to make sure that all positions are filled within six months of the posting.
