Guwahati: Officials from the Guwahati Railway Police (GRP) have foiled a major gold smuggling operation.
Officials seized a statue of Jesus Christ made of fake gold and Arrested two people in connection with it.
According to reports, the seizure was made at the Kamakhya train station in Guwahati.
The arrestees identified as Bulan Shekhar and Khalid.
According to information obtained, the duo intended to snuggle the fake gold into Uttar Pradesh, however, their plans were thwarted by GRP personnel.
The fake gold that was seized is estimated to weigh more than 1.7 kilograms.
Further investigation underway.
