Indian Army to Organise ‘Purvottar Swabhiman Utsav’

Guwahati: The Indian Army will host the “Purvottar Swabhiman Utsav,” a two-day conference, with the topic “Celebrating Contribution of India’s North East Region (NER) in Nation Building under the auspices of HQ Eastern Command.

This was informed by the officials on Saturday.

The conclave will take place as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in Guwahati on November 20 and 21.

The conclave aims to celebrate Veer Naris, highlight NE culture, and emphasise the NER’s commitment to nation-building.

“This conclave will be an apt opportunity to spread awareness about the role of unsung heroes of NER in India’s independence struggle, the contribution of the Indian Armed Forces, and other important organs of the Government like the North Eastern Council (NEC), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Assam Rifles and North-eastern Frontier Railways (NFR) towards overall development of NER, promote the integration of NER strengthen cement Civil-Military relations,” said officials.

The officials also announced that a panel discussion will be held at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati on November 20 as a part of this two-day conclave. Renowned speakers from the Indian Army, North East Council, NF Railway, and civil society will present insightful talks on current events of great relevance. Eminent personalities such as the Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, and Meghalaya will also participate on the panel.

A special function would also honour the valiant Veer Naris of NER on November 20 at Narangi Military Station. The first-of-its-kind outreach programme is expected to draw about 100 Veer Naris.

A mega event will be held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on the second day of the conclave. It will feature a weapons/equipment display, an adventure activity demonstration by the Armed Forces, a concert by a fusion band, a medley of cultural performances by NER, a special performance by local pop bands, and the city’s first-ever drone show.

“This mega event will be a fitting tribute to the indomitable spirit of the people of NE and symbolize a perfect synergy amongst all stakeholders in NER,” the statement added.
