6 feared dead after military planes collide midair

Guwahati: Six people are reportedly killed when a B-17 heavy bomber collided with another plane and crashed during an airshow in Dallas of Texas, a local affiliate of ABC News broadcaster reported on Saturday.

The incident took place during “America’s Premier World War II Airshow,”, which was reportedly Veterans Day weekend, where guests were to see more than 40 World War II-era aircraft.

According to Leah Block, a Commemorative Air Force spokesman, there were five crew members on the B-17 and one on the P-63.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said much information is still unknown or unconfirmed at this time and city authorities are still offering support shortly after the news emerged.

A few videos of the mid-air crash were trending on Twitter. The two planes appeared to crash in the videos before descending at a high rate of speed, igniting a massive fire and sending up plumes of black smoke.
