One Arrested For Aiding ULFA-I Militants In Tinsukia Ambush
Guwahati: A linkman of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) has been arrested by Assam Police from Jorhat district of Assam on Tuesday.
According to reports, the linkman who was captured allegedly helped ULFA-I terrorists in their ambush strike on the Indian Army on Monday.
The arrested individual, identified as Maina Borgohain.
Reportedly, Borgohain was nabbed from Kakojan.
Police informed that an investigation to unearth further linkages is underway.
Security personnel and ULFA-I militants engaged in combat earlier yesterday at Pengeri in the Tinsukia district of Assam.
Reportedly, a grenade detonation in the area allegedly caused both sides to begin firing.
No injury or casualty was reported.
Later, the ULFA-I claimed responsibility for the attack and referred to it as “Operation Lakhipathar” in a formal statement.
Authorities have not yet responded to the outlawed outfit’s claims that the attack harmed multiple jawans.
