PM Narendra Modi Takes Over India’s G20 Presidency From Indonesia

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed India’s G20 Presidency at the G20 conference in Bali, Indonesia on Wednesday.

At the closing ceremony, Narendra Modi received the G20 presidency from Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

During the closing ceremony, PM Modi said, “It’s a matter of pride for every Indian as India takes over the presidency of the G20. We will organise G20 meetings in different states and cities in India. Together we will make G20 a catalyst for global change.”

“India’s G20 presidency will be inclusive, ambitious, decisive and action-oriented. In the next one year, it will be our endeavour that G20 works as a global prime mover to give impetus to collective action,” he added.

Earlier, PM Modi spoke at the G20’s final working session on digital transformation, noting that there is still a “big digital divide” globally and that India is making “digital access public.”

According to PM Modi, only 50 nations have digital payment infrastructure. He urged world leaders to commit to bringing digital transformation into everyone’s life in order to ensure that no one is left out of the benefits of digital technology in his remarks during the third session of the G20 Summit, according to national media.

We are opening up digital access in India but there is still a significant digital divide globally. Most citizens of the world’s poorer nations lack any type of digital identity. Digital payment systems are only present in 50 nations.

“Can we take a pledge together that in the next ten years we will bring digital transformation in the life of every human being so that no person in the world will be deprived of the benefits of digital technology,” PM Modi said at the G20 summit,” he added.

As India takes over the G20 leadership on December 1, PM Modi promised that his country will cooperate with other G20 members to accomplish the goal. He declared that the idea of “Data for development” would continue to be a key component of India’s presidency’s overarching theme of “One Earth, One Family, One Family.” The use of digital transformation effectively can be a “force multiplier” in the global fight against poverty, according to Prime Minister Modi, who called it the “most remarkable change of the era.”

“During its G-20 Presidency next year, India will work jointly with G-20 partners towards this objective. The principle of “Data for development” will be an integral part of the overall theme of our Presidency “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” PM Narendra Modi said.
