Winter Session of Parliament To Begin From December 7

Guwahati: The Winter Session of  Parliament would take place from December 7 to December 29 this year, said to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi .

The upcoming Winter Session will have 17 working days in total.

“Winter Session, 2022 of Parliament will commence from December 7 and continue till December 29 having 17 sittings spread over 23 days. Amid Amrit Kaal looking forward to discussions on Legislative Business and other items during the session. Looking forward for constructive debate,” the Union Minister said in a Twitter post.

The first day of the following session is likely to be postponed in the wake of the passing of sitting members. The founder of the Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav was among the current members of parliament who recently passed away.

According to reports, the majority of members and employees of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariat are fully immunised thus the session is set to start without any serious restrictions brought on by Covid.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who chairs the Rajya Sabha will preside over proceedings in the Upper House for the first time during this session.

While the opposition will call for a discussion on urgent issues, the government will compile a list of Bills to be passed during the upcoming session.

Beginning on July 18 and ending on August 8, the monsoon session was in session. 16 sessions total, spanned across 22 days, were part of the programme.

Six Bills were introduced in Lok Sabha during the session. During the previous session, the Lok Sabha passed seven bills and the Rajya Sabha five. One bill was pulled. Five bills were passed by both Houses of Parliament in total during the session.

Five short-term topics, including price increases in both Houses, were scheduled for the most recent session. Approximately 48% of the Lok Sabha’s time was productive, compared to 44% of the Rajya Sabha’s.
