Indian football match fixing case: CBI Launches preliminary Probe, seeks cooperation of soccer clubs
Guwahati: The central bureau of investigation (CBI) has launched a preliminary probe into the situation involving potential match-fixing in Indian football games.
The CBI is investigating several football clubs in India about the alleged match-fixing issue.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) headquarters has previously provided the CBI with papers pertaining to a number of Indian football clubs.
The body that oversees football in India is called AIFF.
The CBI is investigating a match fixer with a base in Singapore for allegedly rigging the outcomes of football matches in India.
According to ANI, the CBI is looking into claims that match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal, who is headquartered in Singapore, invested in Indian clubs through Living 3D Holdings Limited.
Wilson had already served time in prison for match-fixing in Singapore in 1995 as well as convictions in Finland and Hungary.
Numerous Indian football clubs have also been asked to assist the CBI in their inquiry.
