Twin Explosions at Jerusalem,1 Killed ,18 Injured
Guwahati: As many as 18 people were injured and one person was killed due to twin explosions on Wednesday morning in Jerusalem.
The State of Israel’s official handle on a tweet said, “A horrific morning in Jerusalem. 1 killed and 18 hurt in two separate terrorist attacks in which two bombs went off at two bus stops. We mourn for the victim who was murdered and pray for the recovery of the injured.”
The first explosion occured next to the main entrance of a bus stop in Givat Shaul in west Jerusalem at around seven in the morning. A second explosion soon after occurred near the Ramot crossroads which is the another city entry, according to national media reports .
According to Israel Police, they are on the scene gathering testimony and evidence and acting to find the suspects.
“Israel Police forces are at scenes, collecting evidence and testimonials, and taking action to locate the suspect,” Israel Police said in a tweet.
According to reports, the explosions’ causes were not immediately known. But according to authorities, one of the explosions looked to have been set off by a bomb hidden in a handbag left near the bus.
So far, no group has taken responsibility for the explosions. To identify any potential suspects connected to the explosions, Israeli security officials combed the region.
Following a string of incidents that left dozens of people dead in the country, there were increased tensions in the country at the time of the blasts, as per national media.
The explosions occur as Israel prepares to install a new government.
