Shraddha Murder Case: Accused Aaftab Sent to Judicial Custody for 13 Days

Guwahati: The accused in the murder of Shraddha Walker, Aaftab Amin Poonawalla, was remanded in judicial custody for 13 days. Saket Court in Delhi issued the directive on Saturday.

The murder of Shraddha Walkar, who was allegedly strangled to death by her live-in lover Aaftab, who then allegedly sliced her body into 35 pieces and dumped it in the Chhatarpur area of the nation’s capital, is currently being investigated by Delhi Police.

Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Zone II, stated that “Police have started the legal process for the presentation of Aaftab for further proceedings in the Polygraph Test.”

Meanwhile, a narco test on Aaftab is likely to be conducted on November 28, sources said on Saturday.

The Delhi Police had earlier on Friday announced that Aaftab’s polygraph test could not be performed.

The polygraph test of the accused Aaftab Amin in the Mehrauli police station case FIR No. 659/22 under section 365/302/201 IPC could not be conducted today, according to Sagar Preet Hooda, Special CP (Law and Order) Delhi Police.

On November 16, the Delhi Police collected DNA samples from Vikas Walkar, the father of Shraddha, in order to match the blood sample with the body pieces that had been dumped.

Blood stains were discovered in the kitchen of the accused Aftab Amin Poonawalla’s apartment in Delhi’s Chhatarpur during the course of the inquiry, according to the Delhi Police. To identify whose blood it was, the blood samples were sent for analysis.

The victim’s body’s DNA test results had not yet been received by the authorities, according to a previous statement from the Delhi Police. Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Zone II, stated that the police had not yet received the results of the DNA tests conducted on the victim’s body parts.

Aaftab Amin Poonawalla was detained by Delhi Police after they claimed to have solved the six-month-old blind murder case based on Shraddha’s father’s accusation. On November 10, Delhi Police got a complaint from Shraddha’s father and filed a FIR.

Following their online dating encounter, Aftab and Shraddha moved in together at a Chhatarpur rental home.

Delhi Police interrogation revealed that Aftab killed Shraddha on May 18 and later started planning for disposing of her body. He told police that he had read about human anatomy so that it could help him in chopping off the body. Police said that Aftab, after searching in shopping mode Google, cleaned blood stains from the floor with some chemicals and disposed of stained clothes.
