Two Arrested with 1849 Grams of Gold at Delhi Airport
Guwahati: In yet another case of gold smuggling, Airport customs preventive officers arrested two passengers with a total of 1849 grams of gold at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.
This was informed by the customs department on Sunday.
The gold seized is estimated to be worth Rs. 94 lakhs.
Based on specific input, the arrest was made on Friday by the excise department officers.
The two accused have been identified as Amit Bhandari and Rohit Chhugani. Both of them hail from Jodhpur.
According to reports, both of them were arrested when they arrived from Dubai.
The accused were intercepted after their baggage was examined through x-ray and some suspicious x-ray images of black colour were observed.
Upon checking, 1849 grams of assorted gold jewellery having a tariff value of Rs. 94,80,667 were recovered.
