Assam: Major Road Reconstruction Projects Approved In Dima Hasao

Guwahati: The central government has approved significant road restoration projects in the Dima Hasao district of Assam where roads were destroyed by floods and landslides earlier this year.

Moreover, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the district of Dima Hasao’s wooden bridges will be replaced with concrete ones.

The Assam chief minister added that multiple measures are being implemented in the state to construct different roads and bridges.

“Rs 3800 crore has been earmarked for reconstruction of road network in Dima Hasao that was damaged by floods and landslides,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

He added: “Furthermore, Rs 4000 crore has been earmarked for conversion of 11 wooden bridges to concrete bridges.”

The chief minister of Assam further stated that important initiatives are currently being implemented in collaboration with organisations like the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, among others.

These include the $3197 billion Palasbari-Suwalkuchi Bridge and the Rs. 2608 billion Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge.
