Assam: AHSEC Decides To Exempt Fees For Students With Disabilities
Guwahati: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided to waive fees for those pupils to promote higher education for students with disabilities.
The AHSEC has informed the Principal of Government BDS Deaf and Dumb School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, that the Council has decided to exempt the students of the school (Government BDS Deaf and Dumb School) with ‘benchmark disabilities’ from paying the registration fee, examination fee including mark-sheet fee, certificate fee, practical exam fee etc., and centre fee.
The United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3 established the International Day of Disabled Persons as an annual observance in 1992. The purpose of the Day’s celebration is to increase awareness of disability issues and to rally support for the dignity, rights, and general welfare of people with disabilities. It also aims to raise awareness of the benefits that can be obtained through including people with disabilities in all facets of political, social, economic, and cultural life.
