Guwahati: The Kamrup Excise Department seized 14 bottles of IMFL in various sizes and 75 litres of ID liquor from two illegal liquor distribution centers during a late-night raid.
Acting on complaints received, the Excise Superintendent and her team conducted a search operation in Jalukbari Circle before moving on to the Pandu Bazar area where they discovered enormous consignments of alcohol that had been illegally stored.
Despite the fact that nobody has been arrested the search team proceeded on to the Tetelia, Gotanagar and Jaymati Nagar regions to continue their search.
Six charges in all have been filed under Section 61(b) of the Assam Excise Act 2018 and Jaymati Nagar has been charged a compounding fine of Rs. 12,000 for the recovery.
The police in Guwahati city carried out extensive vehicle searches at numerous sites across the city as a result of a sharp increase in crime. Sources claim that the traffic cops extensively examined each vehicle in the Adabari area.
The police announced that the daily operation which was conducted to prevent theft and robbery incidents still continues. The search was conducted as a result of an increase in crime in the city.
This year there have also been more theft and robbery incidents in the city.
