ENC Pays Tributes to Bravehearts on Navy Day
Guwahati: Eastern Naval Command (ENC) honoured service members for their supreme sacrifice in numerous actions including the 1971 War, as part of Navy Day ceremonies.
Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta AVSM, YSM, VSM FOC-in-C ENC laid a floral wreath at the “Victory at Sea” War Memorial in Visakhapatnam.
The district collector Dr. Mallikarajuna, the police commissioner Ch Srikanth and Vice Admiral VK Namballa (Ret. ), the president of the Navy Foundation also laid wreaths.
On this occasion, every member of the ENC staff recommitted themselves to the nation’s service and to defending its broad maritime borders as well as its offshore national assets.
Every year on December 4, India observes Navy Day to recognise the contribution of the Indian Navy and honour its accomplishments during “Operation Trident” during the Indo-Pak War of 1971.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his best wishes on the anniversary and noted that the army had distinguished itself with its humanitarian attitude while “steadfastly” defending the country. “Best wishes on Navy Day to all navy personnel and their families. We in India are proud of our rich maritime history. The Indian Navy has steadfastly protected our nation and has distinguished itself with its humanitarian spirit during challenging times,” PM Modi tweeted.
