Cop Search Garchuk After Arresting Irani gang member In Guwahati

Guwahati: The Fancy Bazar Police on Sunday conducted a major operation in the Garchuk area of Guwahati to remove members of the notorious Irani Gang.

According to reports, the operation at Boragaon in Garchuk was carried out today by a police team from the Fancy Bazar Police Station in Guwahati. This comes after another member of the notorious gang of thugs was arrested on Saturday in the Fancy Bazar area.

The thug who was apprehended was identified by authorities as Chandan Kumar, a Bihar resident. He was caught in the act of robbing a young man of his money in Guwahati.

Police said that Kumar, an infamous member of the Irani Gang, operating in the city, tried to cheat Mukesh Shah, a resident of Athgaon, near Railway Gate number 3 at Fancy Bazar.

Chandan Kumar was eventually caught after Shah called the Fancy Bazar police and reported the scam.

As soon as they arrived at the scene of the incident, police quickly arrested the notorious Irani gang member with the aid of locals.

Officials informed that he had been brought in and interrogated for several hours. The police squad raided Garchuk based on the information he provided during his interview.

However, they were unable to locate anyone at the area, so they were forced to leave empty handed, added police.

Meanwhile, the recently murdered Purabi Dairy manager Ranjit Bora—who had been shot in broad daylight at Panjabari—was also discussed with the arrested Chandan Kumar.

Officials further informed that he will appear in court today and that the police would want to keep him in detention for longer.
