400 Kgs Cannabis Seized At Tripura Border
Guwahati: In a major haul, a massive consignment of cannabis has been seized by police weighing around 400 kg at Churaibari at the border between Assam and Tripura state on Sunday.
Reports state that the Karimganj Police set a trap based on specific information about a potential drug trafficking attempt. Police stopped a truck coming from Tripura during the operation.
Officials at the inspection station searched the vehicle with the licence plate TR 01 C 1871 and 40 bundles totaling about 400 kilogrammes of cannabis were found inside.
According to the officials, the vehicle was coming from Agartala and was going to Assam. Additionally, one person, the truck driver, was arrested on suspicion of importing cannabis.
The massive seizure is suspected to have a market value of almost Rs 20 lakhs in the international market.
