Guwahati: Residents of the Samaguri constituency in Nagaon district of Assam protested outside the Mowamari Public Distribution System (PDS) outlet on Monday, citing irregularities in the distribution of subsidised food grains.
According to report, the protests were organised by locals angered at not receiving their share of subsidized rice from the PDS shop.
Moreover, the residents have accused the agent at the Mowamari PDS shop of hoarding the food grains.
Additionally, the protesters there stated that they had unsuccessfully appealed to the higher authorities in this respect.
The residents urged that the government and administration intervene, conduct an appropriate investigation and took the necessary actions in connection with the problem after alleging corruption.
