Assam CM Sarma Pays Tribute to Homen Borgohain on his Birth Anniversary

Guwahati: Renowned Assamese author and prominent journalist Homen Borgohain received tributes on Wednesday in honour of his birth day from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other eminent personalities.

The Assam Chief Minister wrote on Twitter, “He was a guy of strong determination.”

Homen Borgohain, an accomplished journalist and author from Assam was born in 1932 and won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1978 for his book Pita Putra.

From 2001 to 2002, he presided over the Assam Sahitya Sabha.

From 2003-15, Homen Borgohain served as Editor-in-Chief of Assamese daily Amar Asom and then worked for Niyomiya Barta from 2015 until his passing in 2021.

The distinguished journalist returned his Sahitya Akademi Award in 2015 in opposition to the nation’s escalating “fascist propensity.”
