Arunachal Pradesh DFO Rescued 4 Hours After Abduction

Guwahati: A senior forest officer from Arunachal Pradesh was freed by the state police four hours later after being kidnapped in West Kameng district. This was informed by an officer on Tuesday.

The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Rupa forest division Bittem Darrang was kidnapped on Monday by four individuals but was freed within four hours, according to district superintendent of police (SP) Bharat Reddy. Additionally, the authorities arrested every suspect connected to the kidnapping.

The arrestees have been identified as Sicilia Takam Tajo, Michael Tajo, Joy Flago and Monuruddin Ali.

According to SP Reddy, the district police formed four teams to conduct search operations at the potential abductors’ routes after receiving information about his kidnapping.

The SP said, “At around 5 pm, East Kameng SP Rahul Gupta informed that the accused had been detained at the Bana check gate and the DFO was present with them.”

“Preliminary questioning has revealed that the motive behind the kidnapping was to extort contract(s) from the DFO,” he added.
