Himachal Pradesh assembly elections 2022 results
Guwahati: The results of the 68-seat Himachal Pradesh assembly elections will be declared on Thursday (December 8).
The counting of postal ballots began at 8 am, while counting of EVM votes will begin at 8.30 am.
A single phase of voting for all 68 seats in the hill state was held on November 12.
The exit polls had predicted a dead heat in Himachal Pradesh where most pollsters gave an edge to the ruling party over the Congress.
The BJP won 44 seats in the 2017 Assembly elections, while the Congress only received 21 votes, and as a result, the BJP was able to form the government in Himachal Pradesh.
In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP ran a fierce campaign in a bid to win a second term in office, and the Congress made every effort to unseat the incumbent party.
Since 1985, Himachal Pradesh has a history of ousting the current government.
