Tusker mowed down by train in Assam
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a wild tusker was allegedly mowed down by a speeding train at Palashbari in Kamrup Rural district of Assam on Thursday morning.
The incident reportedly took place at Kamakhya-Jogighopa train line when a herd of elephants were crossing the rail tracks.
However, one of the tuskers was struck by the fast train because it didn’t cross the tracks in time.
According to reports, the elephant herd left the forest in search of food.
Meanwhile, the locals are in a gloomy mood as many of them place wreaths on the deceased animal made of the customary gamusa, agarbattis, and flowers.
