Chennai : Flights cancelled for Cyclone Mandous
Guwahati: Officials told on Friday that more than 10 flights had to be cancelled at the Chennai airport due to bad weather brought on by cyclone Mandous.
13 flights in total, coming from and going to different places, were cancelled.
In light of the flights impacted by the inclement weather, the officials also gave the general public advice to contact the relevant airlines.
The Chennai Airport authorities stated, “Kindly take note of the Flight cancellations at Chennai International Airport on 09.12.2022 owing to bad weather expected. Passengers are urged to check with relevant airline(s) for further details.”
The National Disaster Response Force team was maintained on readiness in Chennai, according to announcements made by officials on Friday, as cyclone Mandous was expected to keep its status as a “Severe Cyclonic Storm” till the early hours of today.
The officials further stated that the crews had the necessary tools at their disposal to record any unwanted incidents.
The NDRF officers also stated that many pieces of equipment, such as boats, high voltage motors, suckers, cutter machines, etc., were kept on hand and prepared for rescue operations.
Officials said that three districts in Tamil Nadu have already received a red warning. Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Kancheepuram are among the districts that are under alert.
