TMC Appoints Former PCC Chief Pijush Kanti Biswas As State President
Guwahati: Former PCC chief and renowned attorney Pijush Kanti Biswas has been appointed as the Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress State President
This was announced by the All India Trinamool Congress.
Elections for the 60-member House are anticipated to take place next year as a result of Biswas recently joining the Trinamool Congress in New Delhi.
Numerous other Congress leaders along with Biswas, from the northeastern state joined the party in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee at the TMC’s party office in the nation’s capital.
Besides Biswas, former general secretaries of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Tejen Das and Ananta Banerjee, former TPCC working president Purnita Chakma as well as Bimal Rudra Paul of the Tripura Youth Congress had also joined the Trinamool Congress.
The party leader had stated that Biswas would like to be chosen as the state president of TMC in Tripura not long after the latter joined the Trinamool Congress.
“Our family strengthens. With an aim to work for the betterment of Tripura, former INC State President Pijush Kanti Biswas joined our Trinamool family today. We wholeheartedly welcome him to our party.” Mamata Banerjee said, “I welcome you all to the TMC,” the TMC had tweeted welcoming the party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Abhishek Banerjee pledged that the party will oppose the state’s misrule by the BJP as well as the terror that the saffron forces had wrought there.
It needs to be noted that the Trinamool Congress ran candidates in the civic elections last year in an effort to establish itself in the northeastern state.
