TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee to address party workers on December 13 in M’laya
Guwahati: The leader of the Trinamool Congress Mamata Banerjee will address party members in Meghalaya on December 13 to discuss creating a schedule for the state’s upcoming early-2023 assembly elections.
The TMC became the main opposition party in this hill state in November of last year after 11 other Opposition Congress MLAs, led by former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, switched their allegiance to it.
The northeastern state’s 60 House members will be chosen at the polls before March 8. According to a senior party official, the TMC leader will speak at a party workers’ convention on December 13 at State Central Library.
Of the 12 MLAs who joined the TMC last year, Himalaya Shangpliang resigned from the Assembly and the party last month reducing the strength of the Trinamool Congress in the House to 11.
According to a TMC official, Mamata Banerjee’s visit will raise party workers’ spirits before the 2023 assembly elections. The Chief Minister will be accompanied by TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who has already made two trips to the state this year.
