GMC decides to stop providing water in a number of areas

Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has taken the decision to halt water service in a number of city areas.

According to reports, the decision was taken as a result of antiquated water supply plans.

The state government has established the water supply connection and imposed the monthly rates after GMC requested a water connection from the Guwahati Jal Board.

The established application fee for water delivery is set at Rs. 500 and should be paid to the water board together with Rs. 9000-75,000.

It should be noted that the state government earlier this month decided to halt the municipal water supply system operated by the GMC in the area where the “JICA” project water supply had been started.

The Jal Board has advised the populace to benefit from domestic connectivity under the new scheme after the decision.

The decision was taken at a board meeting with Minister for Housing and urban Affairs and Irrigation Ashok Singhal that was conducted at Janata Bhawan.
