Bombay HC Grants Bail After 13 Months To NCP Leader Anil Deshmukh
Guwahati: The Bombay High Court granted bail to former Maharashtra Home Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Anil Deshmukh on Monday in connection with the Rs. 100 crore extortion case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Deshmukh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in November 2021.
According to the report, he had abused his authority as the state’s home minister by using some police officers to steal Rs 4.70 crore from several Mumbai bars.
Senior IPS officer Param Bir Singh claimed in March 2021 that Mr. Deshmukh, the then Home Minister, had set a goal for police officials to collect 100 crore from Mumbai’s eateries and bars each month.
Anil Deshmukh allegedly received 4.70 crore from different pubs and restaurants in Mumbai through police officer Sachin Waze while acting as the state’s Home Minister, according to allegations made by the ED, which is looking into the case’s financial aspects.
Earlier, on November 18, a Mumbai special court granted bail to dismissed Sachin Waze in the Mr Deshmukh-related case.
