Mukhtar Ansari Sentenced to 10 Years In Jail
Guwahati: Mukhtar Ansari, a former gang member who entered politics, was convicted on Thursday and given a 10-year term of imprisonment under the UP Gangsters Act.
The five gang-related allegations against the former MLA have been resolved through testimony, discussion, and cross-examination of 11 witnesses.
According to ANI, the court also sentenced the MLA’s assistant Bhim Singh to 10 years in prison.
The conviction pertains to a number of incidents, including the assault on the additional superintendent of police in Ghazipur.
Case number 165/96 Section 148,307,332, IPC Police Station Kotwali Ghazipur along with case number 192/96 Section 3 (1) of UP Ghazipur Police Station Kotwali which related to the fatal attack on the Additional SP and some other policemen in Ghazipur was being heard against Mukhtar Ansari in court.
The case was initially brought in 1996.
Other cases against the five-time former MLA include: the murder of Rajendra Singh (case number 410/88 Section 302 IPC Police Station Cantt Varanasi), the murder of Vasishtha Tiwari (alias Mala Guru) (case number 106/88 Section 302 IPC Police Station Kotwali Ghazipur), the murder of Awadhesh Rai (case number 229/91 Section 149, 302 IPC Police Station Chetganj As he checked a car in Chandauli, Constable Raghuvansh Singh reportedly perished in a violent attack on the police.
11 witnesses testified for the 26-year-old verdict, following which the court’s arguments came to a conclusion.
