Kerala: Over 100 Fall Sick Due To Suspected Food Poisoning

Guwahati: The minister of health for Kerala Veena George issued an investigation request on Sunday into a possible case of food poisoning that left over 100 people unwell.

The incident took place in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, specifically in the Keezvaipur area.

The affected individuals have been admitted to a number of hospitals in the area where they are now receiving care.

The Food Safety Commissioner has been tasked with conducting the investigation and submitting a thorough report after the Kerala Health Minister requested a review into the situation.

The incident happened on December 29th, as attendees were eating food at a baptism ceremony.

They started becoming sick after getting back home and were checked into several hospitals.

Police have already registered a case against the catering service agency which supplied food at the function.

Police officers collected food samples from the event’s location and forwarded them for analysis.

The catering agency has been the target of cases under sections 268 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code.
