The inaugural ceremony will begin at 9.30 am. According to a news release issued on Monday, the event is being sponsored by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) at its Amravati Road Campus.

The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Maharashtra Public Universities, Bhagat Singh Koshyari; Union Minister and Chairman of the Advisory Committee of RTMNU Centenary Celebrations; Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences; Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde; and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra F.

Subhash R. Chaudhari, vice chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, and Dr. Vijay Laxmi Saxena, president general of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata, will both take centre stage.

The theme of the event this year is “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women’s Empowerment.” The Public Talks and exhibitions are open to the general public.

The 108th Indian Science Congress’ technical sessions are broken down into 14 divisions, each of which will feature concurrent sessions held at several locations on the university’s Mahatma Jotiba Phule Educational Campus.

In addition to these 14 divisions, there will be a section on science and society, a science communicators’ congress, a farmers’ science congress, a children’s science congress, a tribal meet, and a women’s science congress.

Experts and technocrats from a wide range of sectors, including space, defence, IT, and medical research, as well as Nobel Laureates will speak at the Plenary Sessions.

The event’s “Pride of India” mega-expo is a major draw. The exhibition, which brings together and presents hundreds of fresh ideas, technologies, and products across the whole canvas of science, will highlight the notable advancements, big achievements, and substantial contributions mostly of Indian Science and Technology to society. Pride of India showcases the accomplishments and strengths of the nation’s innovators, business owners, PSUs, academic institutions, and research and development organisations.

The Vigyan Jyot programme, a tradition of the Indian Science Congress, was held today in preparation for the occasion. More than 400 high school and college students gathered at Zero Milestone and marched to the university campus in a rally while donning distinctive caps and T-shirts. They vowed to live their lives according to scientific principles. Dr. (Mrs.) Vijay Laxmi Saxena, the general president of ISCA, pushed them to incorporate science into everything they do rather than just studying it as a topic.

The idea for Vigyan Jyot, also known as the Flame of Knowledge, was inspired by the Olympic flame. This movement aims to instil a scientific mindset in society, especially among young people. The flame was set up on the campus of the university and will burn till the conclusion of the 108th Indian Science Congress.
