Guwahati: In a matter of pride for Indian cinema and the South-Indian film industry, director SS Rajamouli’s RRR won the Best Original Song prize at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards for the song “Naatu Naatu.”
The song was written by Kala Bhairavi and Rahul Sipligunj and was composed by music director MM Keeravaani.
‘Naatu Naatu’ was nominated alongside Taylor Swift’s ‘Carolina’ from ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’, ‘Ciao Papa’ from ‘Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio’, Lady Gaga’s ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The epic “action drama film” RRR was released in 2022. SS Rajamouli directed the movie. Rajamouli co-wrote the script for the movie with V Vijayendra Prasad.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association began awarding the Golden Globes in January 1944 to recognise excellence in both domestic and foreign film and television.
Notably, the 80th Golden Globe Awards was held on January 10, 2023, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
