Guwahati: Guwahati city police raided a lodge in Dispur and confiscated a sizable amount of illegal heroin on Saturday.
On the basis of specific information, a team of police officers under the direction of JCP Pathra Sarathi Mahanta and ADCP Kalyan Pathak raided the Barak lodge and found heroin concealed in 22 packages.
The police estimate that the heroin they have confiscated is worth about Rs 2.4 crores.
One person, identified as Mohammad Noor was arrested for possession of the heroin consignment.
It has been discovered that the heroin was being smuggled from Manipur in an effort to sell it throughout the state.
According to the police, the arrested person is being questioned and an investigation is ongoing to find any more connections.
