Tripura Elections: Excise Department Raids To Stop Sale Of Illegal Alcohol
Guwahati: The State Excise Organization has been undertaking daily operations to prevent the sale, production, and transit of illicit alcohol in Tripura ahead of the Assembly elections.
The Indian Election Commission has ordered the raids to be carried out.
The Excise Organization has recovered 225.705 litres of illegal alcohol on Sunday throughout the State, with a street value of Rs 83,338. There have been two examples of Excise law violations.
The State Excise Organization has so far seized a total of 6446.175 litres of illicit alcohol, with a value of Rs 13,98,600, after the date the election results were announced, i.e., January 18. There have been 10 arrests so far, and a total of 29 cases have been filed.
The Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Tripura on February 16.
