ATSU Leaders Held for Extorting Money in Assam’s Morigaon

Guwahati: At least three All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU) leaders were arrested on Wednesday evening in the Morigaon district of Assam.

According to reports, the leaders were arrested on suspicion of extorting money from various firms.

They were arrested by the authorities in the district’s Nellie area.

The following were the leaders who were held:

  • General Secretary of Morigaon’s Tiwa students union Anup Patar
  • Advisor of Nellie Anchalik Committee Dipankar Machlai
  • President of Nellie Anchalik Committee Udit Patar

A police unit arrested the three leaders from their residence at around 2:00 a.m..

They participated in the planning of the impending ATSU meeting in Nellie.
